The Society for the Study of Process Philosophies is issuing a call for papers for its meeting at the APA-Central convention in Chicago from February 21-24, 2018. Papers can be in any area of process thought. Please submit papers or abstracts by September 15, 2017 to Jea Sophia Oh at joh@wcupa.edu.

A call for papers is being issued on this year’s theme: ‘Process’ and Related Concepts. Submissions are welcome that

  1. Discuss the “relational turn,” or
  2. Examine the canon of process philosophers, or
  3. Address inter- or trans-disciplinary applications of ‘process’, e.g., in ecology and Systems Sciences, or
  4. Relate diverse Whiteheadian groups to each other:
    1. Empirical
    2. Hartshornian
    3. Rescher/Seibt/Weber
    4. Continental
    5. Asian-Comparative
    6. Pragmatic
    7. Constructive Postmodern
    8. Open-Relational
    9. Organic Marxist, etc.

In the words of John B. Cobb, Jr., We invite those who share our interest in more organic, relational, integrated, non-dualistic, and processive ways to find a home in the wider Whiteheadian community or to become part of a network with us.

Each presentation will be 20 minutes, with 10 minutes for discussion. Please submit a 150 word abstract and 750-word proposal. Submissions will be sent to referees, so please eliminate self-identifying references. Please accompany your paper abstract and proposal with a separate page containing author’s name(s), paper title, institution, position, email, and postal address. Accepted submissions will be announced by the end of September.
