DESCRIPTION:In the third stop of his Bookrap Tour\, Jon Ivan Gill/Gilead7 will offer a rap/reading of his new book\, MultiRaceLess Ness: A Process Philosophy\, where he suggests a better world awaits us if we bravely and responsibly abolish the category of race. Poet laureate of Chicago\, Mayda del Valle\, will spark off the event with her renown soul stirring creativity demonstrated through deeply embodied words\, vibes\, and wonder. 								\n				\n					Featuring				\n				\n				\n							\n				\n			\n		\n				\n																														\n				\n		\n				\n					Jon Ivan Gill				\n				\n									Jon Ivan Gill (they/he/him) is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Gustavus Adolphus College and co-owner of Aesthetic Religion Records and Texts in Saint Peter\, Minnesota and Tijuana\, Mexico. His work revolves in the realm of Whiteheadian process philosophies\, metaphysics of present day Mexico\, Belize\, Guatemala\, Honduras\, and El Salvador\, futurisms\, poststructuralism\, philosophies of (post)race\, philosophy of religion\, aesthetics\, etc. They are also a solo Hip-Hop artist using the moniker “Gilead7” and a member of Chicago Hip-Hop collective Tomorrow Kings\, Southern California-based Echoes of Oratory Muzik\, and the duo Crystal Radio along with Michael Adame\, also known as Phantom Thrett. His newest book\, Multi/Race/Less/Ness: A Process Philosophy\, was released by Bloomsbury on 11/13/2025. Their first monograph entitled Underground Rap as Religion: A Theopoetic Examination of Process Aesthetic Religion\, is in the Routledge Studies in Hip-Hop and Religion series\, edited by Monica R. Miller and Anthony B. Pinn. Toward Afrodiasporic and Afrofuturist Philosophies of Religion\, a second text\, is an edited volume of Pomona and Pitzer College student essays. 								\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n		\n				\n																														\n				\n		\n				\n					Mayda del Valle				\n				\n									Mayda del Valle is a Chicago-born writer and multidisciplinary artist whose work lives at the intersection of poetry\, performance\, memory\, and community. Rooted in the Puerto Rican diaspora and shaped by hip-hop\, movement\, and visual art\, her practice transforms personal history into shared ritual. Whether on stage\, in classrooms\, or in public space\, she creates work that invites people to see themselves reflected\, work that asks us to remember where we come from and imagine what we can build together. A passionate arts educator\, Mayda has taught poetry in schools\, colleges\, youth detention facilities and served as Program Director of Street Poets Inc. in Los Angeles.
