SUMMARY:Poetry at Play: Reading\, Conversation and Making
DESCRIPTION:In this SPARKS Exchange\, Kathleen Wakefield will read a selection of her poems followed by questions and conversation with Jay McDaniel. We will cap our session off with an opportunity to enjoy an interactive poetry writing experience. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on the process of writing their poem and share their work\, if desired. SPARKS Exchange is a monthly online gathering that features a presentation by and dialogue with an artist\, as well as an interactive art exchange in which attendees have the opportunity to participate in an activity that sparks their creativity. Wakefield is a poet who has taught creative writing at the Eastman School of Music\, the University of Rochester\, as a poet-in-the-schools\, and shares poetry through public libraries. She has published two books of poetry\, Notations on the Visible World (2000)\, which won the 1999 Anhinga Prize for Poetry\, and Grip\, Give and Sway (Silver Birch Press\, 2016). Her poems have appeared in such journals as the Alaska Quarterly Review\, Blue Line\, The Georgia Review\, Hubbub\, HumanaObscura\, Image\, One\, Poetry\, Rattle\, River Styx\, Sewanee Review\, Shenandoah\, and Visions International.
