SUMMARY:The Creative Spark of a Spirit-Forward Artist
DESCRIPTION:Hope Montgomery is a musician\, songwriter\, and visual artist. Lacing doubt with curiosity and hopefulness\, Hope’s work is often reflecting on human experiences of loving\, grieving\, making meaning of mundanity\, and what it means to live alongside nature as a friend. In this SPARKS Exchange\, she will speak about her creative process as a spirit-forward artist and share previews of music and visual work drawn from an upcoming exhibition. These works include batik murals\, woodcuts\, and stone works. Through presenting these works and discussing their meaning\, Hope will explore ideas of fragility and the spirituality of nature. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n SPARKS Exchange is a monthly online gathering that features a presentation by and dialogue with an artist\, as well as an interactive art exchange in which attendees have the opportunity to participate in an activity that sparks their creativity. An indie-pop singer-songwriter\, mural painter\, batik artist\, and stone carver\, Hope spends her days walking the woods\, on the beach\, and near rivers with her partner and their dog. She works as a camp director on the Oregon coast\, where much of her work centers on guiding young adults’ spiritual journey. Combining lyrically rich songs with rhythmic melodies\, Hope’s music explores faith\, doubt\, self\, and love entangled with an illustrative backdrop of landscape and nature. Born in the South\, but a current resident of Rockaway Beach\, Oregon\, her writings are interested in the allure of place and calling. Hope has played the guitar her entire life and is influenced by other indie pop and folk musicians like Clem Snide and Bad Bad Hats. She released her third album\, Lose Your Cool\, in 2023. Hope’s music is available on Bandcamp\, Spotify\, Apple Music\, or wherever you find your music. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n RSVP for this Event \n \n Thank you for your interest!
