  • Letter of Intent
  • Research Proposal (including proposed dates)
  • Academic CV
  • Two Recommendation Letters from Chinese Professors. (For Chinese Visiting Scholars Only)

If applying from outside the USA and accepted as a visiting scholar, a Responsible Officer (RO) of the Dean's Office at Claremont School of Theology will work with the candidate in processing the request for the DS2019 or J-1 visa (J-2 for dependents). All requirements by the Department of State must be met as specified on the CST Website for Exchange Visitors, https://cst.edu/cst-resources/#5 before the final DS-2109 form is sent to the candidate.

Language Requirements:

For applicable candidates, a TOEFL or IELTS will need to be provided. If the candidate doesn’t have TOEFL or IELTS score, the RO may choose to arrange a Skype interview at this time, to verify that his or her English skills meet CST's standards for visiting scholars. The RO will also ask for other information, such as proof of sufficient funding, passport information, or insurance in order to send the perspective visiting scholar the Form DS-2019.
