Society for the Study of Process Philosophy (SSPP) Sessions at the Eastern Division American Philosophical Association (APA), Jan. 2021
The Society for the Study of Process Philosophies is issuing a call for papers for its meeting at the APA-Eastern convention in NYC from January 4–7 in 2021. Papers can be in any area of process thought. Please submit papers or abstracts by June 13, 2020 to Jea Sophia Oh at joh@wcupa.edu.
A CALL FOR PAPERS is being issued on this year’s theme: ‘Process’ and Related Concepts. Submissions are welcome that 1) discuss the “relational turn,”or 2) address inter- or trans-disciplinary applications of ‘process’, e.g., in ecology/environmental ethics, postcolonial studies, gender studies, religious and cultural studies, and Systems Sciences, 3) relate diverse Whiteheadian groups to each other: a) empirical, b) Hartshornian, c) Continental/Kellerian (posthumanism, transfeminism, other postists) d) Asian-Comparative, e) Pragmatic, f) Constructive Postmodern, g) Naturalists (Ecstatic and Religious), h) Open-Relational, i) Organic Marxist), etc. In the words of John B. Cobb, Jr., “We invite those who share our interest in more organic, relational, integrated, non-dualistic, and process ways to find a home in the wider Whiteheadian community or to become part of a network with us.” Each presentation will be 25 minutes, with 15 minutes for discussion. For submission of a 150 word abstract and 750 word proposal, the deadline is June 13, 2020. Submissions will be sent to referees, so please eliminate self-identifying references. Please accompany your paper abstract and proposal and with a separate page containing author’s name(s), paper title, institution, position, email, and postal address. Accepted submissions will be announced by the end of June, 2020.
