To mark the first anniversary of the passing of John B. Cobb Jr., this online memorial gathering is convened to honor his life, his enduring legacy, and the living influence of his thought. It will offer a quiet and heartfelt space for remembrance, reflection, and gratitude as well. Simultaneous interpretation in English and Chinese will be provided.
One year has passed since John left us physically, yet his presence has not faded. If anything, it has become more deeply felt—through the questions we continue to ask, the commitments we continue to hold, and the paths we are still trying to walk with integrity and care. This first anniversary feels like a particularly meaningful moment to pause together, to remember him, and to reflect on how his life and thought continue to guide us.
This commemoration is not intended as a formal memorial alone, but as a shared space of remembrance, gratitude, and renewed orientation. We hope to honor John not only by recalling his extraordinary contributions as a thinker and teacher, but also by acknowledging how he shaped us as colleagues, companions, and fellow travelers committed to the well-being of life on Earth.
