This is the question that Dr. Patrick Mahaffey asks in his newest book, Individuation and Beyond: World Views, God-Images, and Self-Realization. A profound exploration of the psychospiritual journey toward wholeness and awakening, Mahaffey draws on over five decades of academic study, spiritual practice, and teaching at Pacifica Graduate Institute to interweave insights from process relational theology, Jungian depth psychology, the Diamond Approach, contemplative yoga traditions, and integral philosophy.
In this event, Dr. Mahaffey will introduce the invitation in his text for explorers to engage deeply with their inner lives by examining the worldviews and God-images that shape meaning and identity. He proposes a form of integrative spirituality—a path that unites psychological wholeness with spiritual realization. Patrick Mahaffey
Dr. Patrick Mahaffey is Professor Emeritus in the Mythological Studies Program at Pacifica Graduate Institute. His areas of expertise include Hindu and Buddhist traditions, Comparative Philosophy of Religion, and Contemplative Yoga. His Ph.D. in Religious Studies is from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is the author of Integrative Spirituality: Religious Pluralism, Individuation, and Awakening, the editor of Evolving God-Images: Essays on Religion, Individuation, and Postmodern Spirituality and his latest book, Individuation and Beyond: World Views, God-Images, and Self-Realization. He has also published essays on Hindu and Buddhist traditions, and Self-inquiry in Jung’s Depth Psychology and Yoga.
