In this session of Process Explorations, Bishop Mary Ann Swenson will reflect on her recent experience with the World Council of Churches Reference Group on the Pilgrimage of Justice, Reconciliation, and Unity. The group met in Vancouver, British Columbia to discuss the theology of Companionship as it relates to faith and order, climate justice, education and ecumenical formation, and international affairs. Following the presentation, there will be discussion of process thought and relational theology to explore connections between these topics and what Bishop Swenson presented.
Featuring
Bishop Mary Ann Swenson is a retired United Methodist bishop and former Vice Moderator of the World Council of Churches, a position she held from 2013 to 2022. She currently serves as a member of the World Council of Churches’ Reference Group on the Pilgrimage of Justice, Reconciliation, and Unity. She also chairs the World Relations Committee of the National Council of Churches in the USA, working with the Canadian Council of Churches on ecumenical efforts across the North American region and around the world. In addition, she serves as President of the International Foundation of Ewha Woman’s University in Seoul, South Korea. Bishop Swenson received her Doctor of Ministry degree from the School of Theology at Claremont in 1975.
