SEER: Exploring Love through Nature Photography and Film
In this SPARKS Exchange, we will be exploring how a colorblind photographer feels with his eyes, and how we can apply this to how we navigate our own creative process. Thomas Jay Oord will share clips from his documentary SEER as a window into his creative process. The session will also feature a visual meditation inviting participants to feel with their eyes and shine light upon their own creative process.

Ecological Civilization and Global Citizenship: Reflections on a Year in China with Wm. Andrew Schwartz
The path toward ecological civilization asks us to confront a basic contradiction of our time: our greatest challenges are planetary, while our dominant forms of identity and political action remain divided along national, cultural, religious, and ideological lines. Building a more just and sustainable world will require unprecedented cooperation across these boundaries, and new ways of understanding what it means to belong to a global community. Drawing on a year of living, teaching, and working in China, Andrew Schwartz reflects on global citizenship, cross-cultural encounter, and ecological civilization through the lens of process-relational thought, asking how we might cultivate forms of identity, responsibility, and cooperation adequate to our shared planetary future.

Buddhist Process Explorations: Dogen and Whitehead
This six-session online series brings the Zen teachings of Dōgen into conversation with the process philosophy of Alfred North Whitehead. Through readings from The Essential Dōgen, Whiteheadian commentary, a response from within the Sōtō Zen tradition, and open discussion, participants will explore what these two visions offer for awakening, everyday life, and compassionate participation in an interdependent world.
